Rural Mapping

Rural Mapping is a series of projection-mapping installations staged in the spaces of the Polish countryside: barns, cottage rooms, farmyards. The project combines professional on-location footage, a real-time Unreal Engine 5 environment, and procedural video post-processing to build a multimedia installation embedded in its natural, rural surroundings.

The next step was drawing on local context. We captured the local environment — light, wind, the movement of trees — and turned it into a pattern projected back onto the rural structures themselves.

This kind of projection mapping isn't a synthetic layer of augmented reality. It grows out of the very surroundings the object belongs to. The projection doesn't hide the surface — it reveals its connection to the landscape it came from.

The final projection returns to the place it came from, closing the narrative loop.

The result is a meeting between advanced technology and nostalgia: places steeped in memory come alive in a form that was never possible before. Familiar façades and building forms begin to tell their own story — not as some foreign, digital overlay, but as a natural continuation of what was always there.
