The creators return to The Tempest to explore how its message resonates in a contemporary, internally divided Poland, and whether Yiddish can serve as a warning against the recurring demons of history. The performance is enriched with excerpts from the Ringelblum Archive as well as biblical texts.
The projections were created using photogrammetric 3D scans of tenement houses from the Warsaw Ghetto, raising the question of whether the city — and memory itself, both individual and collective — can be reconstructed.

“The content of the piece, resonating in Yiddish amid a ghostly scenography and the ruins of Warsaw in the background, strikes the viewer like a spear.”
